The little things matter. Like the lights in the elevator, the ones that tell you which floor you're on and which floors have been requested. Some of those are burned out and should be replaced. So much for the elevator that works. There are two of them, and as far as I could tell, the other elevator doesn't work at all. It really should be fixed. On the plus side, the room is comfortable and the staff is friendly and the location is good, with restaurants within walking distance and a light rail station across the street. I would consider staying there again.
great experience. Specific things that really stood out:-Friendly, helpful, efficient staff. Liam was particularly great: he went out of his way to permit an after-hours load of laundry when I was in a pinch, and when I asked to book an extra night he did so very quickly and for a great price.-Really good, low noise air conditioning units in the rooms-Clean and well maintained pool area with slide-Very fast internet with a secure password access system and a (probably unnecessary, but novel nonetheless) option to pay for a huge boost in bandwidth ($4.95)Great stay!
*my friend rated a 1, initially I rated a 2, but based on service, I'll give it a 3*LONG REVIEW:We were in the area having drinks, and didn't want to drive all the way home, so ended up here. Then the adventure started. The booking systems had been down, and the gentleman at the front desk was very nice and apologetic about the issues and kept thanking us for our patience. After going up to our room, we noticed a suitcase in the middle of the floor. Apparently, the booking system put us in a room that was already booked! We're so lucky that nobody was in there at the time, or we would have been mortified!Went back down to the desk and he was so apologetic, and changed our room to one that was available. We go up, and our door won't open. We try both keys, multiple times, but still no luck. Back down we go...At this point, we're not even upset. We were just laughing and having a fun time! No harm, no foul! But he felt badly, and upgraded us to a suite with a king bed, which we did finally get in to!The room itself was, in a word, fine. The air conditioning was super loud, and cranked to freezing when we walked in. We laughed about the hideous bathroom wallpaper. The bathroom sink was outside the bathroom, which I hated, but my friend has been in many hotels with that setup. Just my preference. There was a living/kitchen area, but it was almost midnight, so we just went to bed.The next morning, I noticed that there was what looked like dried snot on one sheet (100% not from either of us), and the rooms weren't cleaned well (there was a poop-like stain on the edge of the bath, and the towels were not soft at all. Makes me think they were reused and not washed).All-in-all it was a fun experience. We had zero expectations and it served the purpose. The hotel itself is mediocre, but the staff we dealt with took pride in what he did, but I don't think I'll ever stay again.
The room amenities were good, price was very competitive and cleanliness was good. Overall a pleasant stay. Good for going to events at McMahon Stadium, access to the University and the C-train station is across the street.
Probably the best deal on Banff Trail. The room was nice, clean and a good size. My room was upgraded to a suite with a kitchenette, but no utensils or cookware. Great location being literally across the road from the C-train, allowing access to downtown in 15 minutes. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall a great place to stay at a good rate.
